Chapter 132

How About We Sleep Together

For the rest of the day, Claire Bennett kept thinking about how to pry that secret out of the nurse, or else persuade her to help.

That evening, Julian Sterling came back.

When Claire Bennett wasn't looking, Ruby Sterling waggled her eyebrows at him, then shook her phone before getting up to say goodbye and leave.

Julian Sterling took out his phone and saw a message lying quietly on the screen.

Ruby Sterling: "I've already explained clearly about Naomi Pierce being the new department manager. Claire isn't mad. No need to thank me. I'll keep using your card for another two days."

After reading it, Julian Sterling slipped his phone back into his pocket without changing expression.

At that moment, Claire Bennett asked, "Julian Sterling, did you get the video? How was it? Did it catch what happened between Naomi Pierce and me?"

"Yeah, I got it." Julian Sterling nodded.

He took out his phone and opened a surveillance video for Claire Bennett to watch.

Although the video only caught Claire Bennett and Naomi Pierce in one small corner of the frame, it did record the entire course of what happened.

There was no sound in the footage, but it was clear that Naomi Pierce reached out first and then fell backward. The whole time, Claire Bennett never made any pushing motion at all. She was obviously scared stupid, and then the people around them were startled and all crowded over.

Joy appeared on Claire Bennett's face, and her whole expression brightened.

This video could prove her innocence!

But it still wasn't enough!

Whether she had done it on purpose or not, in everyone else's eyes, Naomi Pierce had already miscarried. If it could be proven that she hadn't been pregnant at all and had deliberately framed her, then all the public opinion could be turned around.

"Don't think about it anymore. Fill your stomach first. You have a fever, so you need to eat something light." Julian Sterling set what he was holding in front of Claire Bennett.

Claire Bennett came back to herself and took the chopsticks he handed her.

Now that there was a video that could prove her innocence, even though there were still some things she hadn't gotten yet, she wasn't nearly as depressed, and she had the appetite to eat too.

Claire Bennett ate everything clean.

Julian Sterling stepped forward to clean up the remains.

Claire Bennett stared fixedly at Julian Sterling as he lowered his head and busied himself.

He was bent over slightly, the hair on his forehead hanging down and covering his handsome brows and eyes. There was a faint weariness on his face.

Only then did it suddenly hit her that Julian Sterling must have stayed by her side most of the night while she had a fever and hadn't slept well, and then first thing in the morning he'd gone off to deal with the video.

He hadn't come back until now...

In an instant, Claire Bennett felt overwhelmingly guilty. She immediately reached out and pressed down on his large hand, saying, "Julian Sterling, get some proper rest, okay? I can see bloodshot veins in your eyes."

After saying that, she got out of bed, wanting to give the hospital bed to Julian Sterling so he could sleep.

Julian Sterling frowned slightly. "Stop fooling around. You're the patient."

Claire Bennett spread her hands helplessly and said, "I'm already better. My fever's gone. I'm not a patient now. I feel like the person who needs rest more right now is you."

To prove that she was really fine, she even bounced twice in place.

Julian Sterling pinched the bridge of his nose. "Lie back down. I'll rest next to you."

Claire Bennett looked at the little chair beside the hospital bed, disapproval rising in her heart. It was such a tiny chair, and with Julian Sterling's tall build, he definitely wouldn't sleep comfortably on it.

It was obvious that Julian Sterling didn't want her to give up the bed.

Claire Bennett's eyes shifted, and then she thought of a solution. She lay back down on the bed and scooted over until she was pressed to the edge before stopping.

She patted the empty spot beside her and said, "How about we sleep together?"
