Ch. 136 - More Reliable Than Sean Shaw

Chapter 136

More Reliable Than Sean Shaw

Julian Sterling said with certainty, "She'll change her mind."

"What?" Claire Bennett was dumbfounded. She hesitated and said, "Probably not, right? She seemed pretty eager to get back at that doctor too."

But with two days to wait, there really were too many variables.

Julian Sterling analyzed, "Since she could be sweet-talked by that man into handing over her entire paycheck, it's also possible he'll persuade her to give up getting back at him and throw herself back into his arms."

Claire Bennett panicked inside when she heard that.

"Other than that nurse, do you have any backup plan?"

"Have you thought about what you'll do next if she changes her mind?"

"If they refuse to admit it and even turn around and accuse you instead, how will you deal with that?"

"I... I..." Claire Bennett was speechless.

She hadn't thought about anything at all. She was just waiting for that nurse to bring her the evidence she'd secretly recorded, but after Julian Sterling hit her with several questions in a row, she felt like she really had failed to think things through and hadn't considered any of the other possible consequences at all.

She wasn't completely confident. If Paige Nolan really regretted it, then there was truly nothing Claire Bennett could do about her.

Claire Bennett had been pretty happy just a moment ago, but now it was like having a bucket of cold water dumped over her head.

Her little face was full of disappointment.

Julian Sterling glanced at her and said, "But it's not like there's no solution. If you want to record their conversation, that's possible too."

At those words, the gloom on Claire Bennett's face instantly vanished.

She immediately grabbed Julian Sterling and asked, "You have a way to fix this?"

"We'll place the bug ourselves. That way, even if that nurse changes her mind at the last minute, you'll still have evidence in your hands to prove your case."

Claire Bennett hadn't expected the solution to be so simple. She felt that Julian Sterling's mind was incredibly quick, and he thought much farther ahead than she did.

Julian Sterling once again completely reshaped how she felt about him.

She asked, "How do you think of so much?"

"Normal risk avoidance."

All right then, her own sense of risk was just too terrible, which was why she hadn't thought things through more carefully.

Claire Bennett thought of something else, frowned tightly, and said, "Even though Naomi Pierce and I are staying in the same hospital, it still wouldn't be easy to do anything."

"Don't worry. I'll arrange it for you."

Claire Bennett looked at Julian Sterling with excitement and admiration. How was he so amazing? He was practically all-powerful!

Not only had he helped her handle quite a few things, now he'd even solved all the problems that had been troubling her. He was simply even more reliable than Sean Shaw!

If he ever stopped working as an assistant, he definitely wouldn't do badly in any other job either.

Julian Sterling's charm value in Claire Bennett's heart shot straight up.

Before she knew it, two days had passed, and Claire Bennett was sitting in the hospital room looking at her phone.

Claire Bennett Mural Studio was now a complete mess. Its website domain had been hacked, and when she clicked in, it was filled with red words like "murderer," "vicious-hearted," "poisonous woman," and so on.

Even the comments section had completely fallen apart, the whole screen full of curses. She hadn't expected Naomi Pierce to have so many supporters.

Claire Bennett casually tapped one to take a look.

Ruby Sterling had said Naomi Pierce's livestream account had over a million followers. It looked like those fans were pretty formidable too.

If this was allowed to continue, she probably would never get another order again, and even if she did, people would sabotage it.

Fortunately, she'd joined Sterling International, so she didn't need to worry about making a living in the future.

Just then, the hospital room door opened with a click.

Claire Bennett turned to look and saw Paige Nolan standing in the doorway. She closed the door behind her and walked in.

Paige Nolan stood beside her hospital bed, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Miss Bennett..."

After calling out to Claire Bennett, Paige Nolan said nothing more. She just fidgeted with her fingers, clearly uneasy.

Claire Bennett quietly put away her phone, turned to look at Paige Nolan, and asked, "Did you get the evidence? Let me see if it'll work."

After hearing Claire Bennett's words, a look of retreat appeared on Paige Nolan's face.

She bit her lip lightly and said in a small voice, "Miss Bennett, I've thought it over carefully, and I still can't help you. Dr. Nolan Pierce is my husband. If I send him to prison, it won't do me any good either. My mother-in-law might even blame me..."

After going back that day, Paige Nolan had been preoccupied. She talked in her sleep and accidentally let her mother-in-law hear.

Her mother-in-law found out she was going to report her own son and grabbed her to berate her. Only then did Paige Nolan change her mind.

Claire Bennett sneered inwardly.

The moment Paige Nolan had walked in just now, she had already guessed the outcome.

Sure enough, Paige Nolan had changed her mind at the last minute and gone back on her word. Luckily, Julian Sterling had reminded her to make two sets of preparations.

He had guessed right. Paige Nolan really was going to back out!

If she had only waited for Paige Nolan, then by now all her effort would probably have come to nothing, and she would even have wasted two days for nothing.

Claire Bennett crossed her arms and said, "Since you don't plan to help me anymore, then what are you here for? To give me some kind of explanation?"

Come to think of it, she did have to thank Paige Nolan for not changing her mind on the day of the court hearing, giving her some mental preparation in advance.

Paige Nolan took a deep breath, looked at Claire Bennett, and said, "I came to see you because I hope you won't tell anyone about this. Dr. Nolan Pierce is in a crucial period of his career right now. If you expose this and send him to prison, then everything will be over!"
