No Chance of Turning It Around

The presiding judge gave a light cough and said, "Since neither party is willing to settle, then let's formally open court and proceed with the trial."

Several of them stood up together and walked toward the courtroom.

As Naomi Pierce passed by Claire Bennett's side, she said softly, "Claire, you caused the death of the baby Ethan and I had. You have to give us an explanation for this. If I were you, I'd give up this pointless struggle."

Claire Bennett laughed mockingly to herself.

Naomi Pierce still thought her plan was flawless. Looking at how fearless she was now, who knew what kind of expression she would have later when she saw the video and the recording of the bribed doctor.

"Cut the crap. Who knows who's going to be crying later." Claire Bennett rolled her eyes and walked around Naomi Pierce, leaving directly.

Ethan Sterling's face looked dark and ugly. Claire Bennett was always like this, unwilling to lower her head even a little at any time. Otherwise, things would not have come to this point today.

When she ended up miserable and thrown in prison later, she would probably learn to bow her head and admit defeat.

Watching Claire Bennett's arrogant manner, Naomi Pierce frowned.

After Ruby Sterling saw Claire Bennett come out, she made a cheering gesture at her.

Seeing that the two of them had actually come to support her, Claire Bennett's lips curved into a small smile.

The trial began. As the plaintiff, Naomi Pierce's side would first state its claims and the facts, then present evidence. After hearing it, the court summoned witnesses to testify.

The witnesses who came in were Sterling International employees who had personally seen what happened between Claire Bennett and Naomi Pierce at the scene. There were two women and one man in total.

The judge asked, "Were you at the scene and did you see Claire Bennett push Naomi Pierce down, causing Naomi Pierce to miscarry?"

The three nodded at the same time. "That's right."

One of them said, "We were looking at the mural on the outer wall when we heard a cry. Then we turned around and saw Naomi Pierce lying on the ground."

Naomi Pierce's lawyer took the cue and said, "Knowing full well that Naomi Pierce was pregnant, the defendant still deliberately pushed her down, causing the death of the child in her womb."

With a grave expression, he said, "For a mother, losing her own child is extremely painful. I hope the court will severely punish the defendant, to comfort the spirit of the child in heaven!"

These words stirred up the outrage of the onlookers watching the livestream, and comments flooded the screen overwhelmingly.

"Claire Bennett definitely did it on purpose!"

"Exactly. In front of so many people, she still dared to do something like that. She's unbelievably arrogant!"

"She'll stop at nothing to achieve her goal, even harming an unborn baby. It's absolutely outrageous!"

Ruby Sterling, in the gallery, knew that Naomi Pierce had the livestream on, so she used a burner account to sneak into it too. When she saw those comments supporting Naomi Pierce, she got so angry she almost started cursing out loud.

But then she thought about how Claire Bennett already had evidence.

In order not to ruin what was coming next, she forcibly held herself back in the end.

The judge looked toward Claire Bennett's side and asked, "Defendant, do you have anything to add regarding the evidence provided by the plaintiff and the rest?"

Claire Bennett quietly said something to the lawyer beside her.

Although she had that evidence in her hands, as for how to present it, everything had to be arranged by the lawyer. He knew how to handle all of it properly.

Because he was the lawyer Julian Sterling had found for her, Claire Bennett trusted him unconditionally.

Claire Bennett's lawyer was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Regarding the descriptions given by these witnesses, I have a few doubts."

"Go ahead," the judge agreed.

Claire Bennett's lawyer looked at those Sterling International employees and asked, "You said that after hearing Naomi Pierce's voice, you saw her lying on the ground. In other words, you did not personally witness Claire Bennett push her. You only subjectively assumed that Claire Bennett pushed her down, is that correct?"

Their expressions froze, and they looked at one another.

Put that way, it seemed they really hadn't seen it with their own eyes.

But when they turned at the sound, Naomi Pierce was already on the ground, and Claire Bennett was the only person standing in front of her at the time. If it wasn't Claire Bennett, then who could it have been?

Seeing this, Claire Bennett's lawyer curled his lips and continued, "The defense has new evidence. Please take a look, Your Honor."

Next, the surveillance footage from the building next door was submitted.

After the judge watched it, his brows knitted tightly. The footage was passed over to Naomi Pierce's side to view, and after their people watched it, they were all stunned.

Claire Bennett had not laid a hand on her from beginning to end!

If one insisted on saying she had pushed Naomi Pierce, it would be very far-fetched. It looked more like Naomi Pierce had wanted to grab Claire Bennett, but accidentally fell backward herself—and in a very strange way at that.

Naomi Pierce's face stiffened as she stared fixedly at the footage in her hands. It was indeed the surveillance from the day of her incident with Claire Bennett, not a fake video.

The hand at her side clenched tightly.

Hadn't she already checked and made sure there was nothing that could clear Claire Bennett's name? Then where had this surveillance footage come from?
