Do You Have a Brain?
"You!" Naomi Pierce's face twisted.
Ethan Sterling was a member of the Sterling family. His status and position were nothing an ordinary man could compare to, and there were plenty of women who liked him. Although Naomi Pierce had been furious just now, she wouldn't really pick a fight with Ethan Sterling.
She could only play pitiful with Ethan Sterling.
Naomi Pierce looked at Ethan Sterling with a plaintive expression and said, "Ethan, listen to what Claire's saying. She's making fun of you."
Looking at Claire Bennett's smiling face, Ethan Sterling's expression darkened.
His hand clenched. He had originally wanted to raise it, but because Sterling International employees were coming and going all around them, he ultimately forced himself to hold back.
If he left a bad impression, Julian Sterling definitely wouldn't give him any important responsibilities.
Ethan Sterling took several deep breaths and forcibly swallowed his anger.
"Let's go." He pulled Naomi Pierce away.
The moment they left, someone grabbed Claire Bennett's hand hard.
She jumped in fright and looked up. What met her eyes was Julian Sterling's cold, grim face. His brows were slightly furrowed, and his eyes seemed to still carry a trace of anger.
"Do you have a brain?" You actually came to make a scene with Ethan Sterling!
Hearing Julian Sterling's words, Claire Bennett belatedly reacted.
What was he saying? What did he mean, asking whether she had a brain? She suspected Julian Sterling was insulting her!
She was angry!
Claire Bennett glared at Julian Sterling irritably, her bright clear eyes brimming with fury.
She had graduated with top marks in every subject from the number-one-ranked school in the world, and had also earned several extremely prestigious certifications, so how did she not have a brain?
Claire Bennett said unhappily, "What do you mean by that?"
Thinking of the scene he had seen when he arrived, with Ethan Sterling and Claire Bennett confronting each other, Julian Sterling's anger flared up again.
He frowned and said, "Don't go looking for Ethan Sterling again in the future."
Claire Bennett gave a disdainful little snort. "Don't worry. I can't wait to cut all ties with him."
It would have been one thing when she hadn't known Ethan Sterling was this disgusting, but now that she knew he was human trash, how could she possibly go looking for him again? She wasn't brain-dead.
Hearing Claire Bennett's promise, Julian Sterling's anger eased slightly.
He would find a way to suppress what had happened between Claire Bennett and Ethan Sterling so no one would find out. Claire Bennett had better not cause him any trouble.
Originally, he had planned to take Claire Bennett to the hospital and deal with the issue in her belly, but just now he had suddenly gotten a new idea.
If this child were kept, it might have even more deterrent effect on Grandpa.
Once he had secured the Sterling family, he would then give Claire Bennett a large sum of money, enough for her and the child to live on for the rest of their lives, as compensation.
Claire Bennett had no idea what Julian Sterling was thinking.
Seeing him fall silent, she asked curiously, "Why are you here? That Julian Sterling went on a business trip, so shouldn't you be staying with the Sterling family?"
"Dropping someone off," Julian Sterling said without changing expression.
"Oh, so that's it." Claire Bennett nodded.
Julian Sterling was the Sterling family's driver, so it was perfectly normal for him to be picking people up and dropping them off. There was nothing strange about him appearing at Sterling International.
"Since everything's fine now, I'll head home first."
"I'll take you."
Claire Bennett didn't refuse. She waited at the entrance of Sterling International for Julian Sterling to drive out. Before long, his Volkswagen stopped in front of her, and she opened the door and got in.
As the two of them were leaving, Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce happened to be returning from the hospital.
When Naomi Pierce saw Claire Bennett inside the car, surprise appeared in her eyes. Unexpectedly, by the time she wanted to look at the man in the driver's seat, the car had already driven past.
Who was that man?
Could he be Claire Bennett's boyfriend?
She hadn't expected Claire Bennett to find a new boyfriend so quickly. No wonder she had acted like she didn't care about Ethan Sterling.
Naomi Pierce sneered disdainfully. With Claire Bennett's status, what kind of good man could she possibly find?
The car moved along smoothly. Claire Bennett sat in the front passenger seat and turned to glance at Julian Sterling.
Today he was wearing a white dress shirt and black slacks. His white shirt didn't look to be of very good quality, and it already had quite a few wrinkles in it, yet he gave off an indescribable air of nobility, as if it were something innate in his bones.
Halfway there, Claire Bennett suddenly said, "Let's stop by the supermarket and look around. We can buy some groceries and go back to make dinner."
Julian Sterling did not refuse and changed direction.
After the two arrived at the supermarket, Julian Sterling took the initiative to push the shopping cart, while Claire Bennett stayed by his side.
Watching Claire Bennett pick through the fresh produce section with very practiced ease, Julian Sterling asked, "Do you cook often?"
"Yeah." Claire Bennett kept her head down as she continued choosing things.
In order to save money, she had learned to cook for herself, and over time it had become a habit.
Now that she was living with Julian Sterling, even though she was only temporarily acting as his wife, she felt it was necessary for her to do this well.
Didn't his agreement say that she had to fulfill a wife's duties?
Cooking should count as part of those duties too, right?
Julian Sterling's expression darkened slightly. So she really did want to win him over through his stomach. Still, he had to admit that Claire Bennett's cooking was pretty good.
She was just a foolish girl who had been deceived by Ethan Sterling. As for what had happened between her and Ethan Sterling, he would let it go.
Julian Sterling's mood completely sank to rock bottom when he saw Claire Bennett pick up a package of lamb kidneys from the refrigerated case.
He suddenly remembered overhearing his assistant chatting the other day, joking that he had been a little weak lately and was going to buy some lamb kidneys to replenish himself and make his girlfriend happy, so Julian Sterling knew what lamb kidneys were for.
Claire Bennett was buying lamb kidneys for him?
