Chapter 182
Cameron Quinn's Woman
"The person who sent Cameron Quinn the message also sent several photos with it, and every single one of those photos was of Claire!" After saying that, Ruby Sterling lowered her voice a little and added, "And Sean Shaw too."
Ruby Sterling secretly glanced at Julian Sterling. When she saw his grave expression and narrowed eyes, she silently observed a moment of mourning in her heart.
She had originally been happily binge-watching a show at home, only to suddenly get a call from Cameron Quinn, who said he'd received evidence that Claire Bennett was cheating and asked what they should do next.
She exploded on the spot.
Yesterday they were still saying things between them were developing pretty well, and that her brother had a very good chance of officially making it. Today came a bolt from the blue that caught her completely off guard.
The last time had been her misunderstanding, but this time it was real as real could be.
She had originally wanted to keep it hidden, but Cameron Quinn said that if they knew and didn't tell Julian Sterling, the consequences might be even worse.
After thinking it over, Ruby Sterling dragged Cameron Quinn with her to Sterling International to find Julian Sterling.
"Give it to me." Julian Sterling held out his hand to Cameron Quinn.
Cameron Quinn stood up and handed over his phone.
The message had been sent from an anonymous virtual number, so there was no way to verify who was behind it, but the content inside was about Claire Bennett.
From Claire Bennett standing by the roadside outside Sterling International, to Sean Shaw driving up and her getting into the car, everything had been photographed. The person secretly taking the pictures followed Claire Bennett and Sean Shaw the whole way, until the two of them entered Parkview Heights together...
When Ruby Sterling saw those photos, she felt her heart trembling uncontrollably.
Not to mention Julian Sterling himself seeing them.
Who would have thought Claire Bennett actually... actually took Sean Shaw back to their home while her brother was working overtime? What could a lone man and a lone woman possibly do together?
Ruby Sterling pinched herself so she wouldn't get too worked up. She already didn't dare look at Julian Sterling's expression.
Julian Sterling's eyes rested on the phone, his expression gradually turning cold...
He had thought that Claire Bennett accepting what he gave her lately meant she was accepting his advances, but reality sobered him up. He thought perhaps he had been too optimistic.
That moonlight in Claire Bennett's heart was still the most important thing, while he was nothing more than someone dispensable.
At the thought that Sean Shaw and Claire Bennett might very well lie on the bed they had lain on together, wave after wave of murderous intent surged in his chest.
Ruby Sterling suddenly felt a chill. She swallowed and said in a trembling voice, "Bro, how about Cameron Quinn and I go drive him out first? Whatever it is, we can talk it through slowly."
Unexpectedly, Julian Sterling stood up and closed his laptop. "Cameron Quinn, go investigate the person who sent the message."
"Okay."
After saying that, Julian Sterling grabbed the suit jacket beside him and strode outside with sharp, forceful steps.
Ruby Sterling looked at his back and inwardly thought, Oh no.
Her brother was going to catch them in the act!
...
Parkview Heights.
After Claire Bennett returned to the apartment, she couldn't even be bothered to entertain Sean Shaw. She took the groceries and plunged straight into the kitchen to get busy.
Sean Shaw, meanwhile, was bored out of his mind and, like he owned the place, started looking around on his own. When he saw that there was only one bedroom in the apartment, an ambiguous smile curled at the corners of his mouth.
Well, well, things had already gotten to this stage. Claire Bennett must have taken Julian Sterling down long ago, right?
That girl had actually been keeping it under wraps!
Could it be she was too shy to tell him? Later, he was definitely going to interrogate them properly about how far things had gotten.
Just as Sean Shaw was letting his imagination run wild, Claire Bennett's voice came from outside. "Sean, come out and eat."
"Okay, coming." Sean Shaw came back to himself and walked out.
In the dining room, the two sat facing each other. On the table was a simple meal of three dishes and a soup. Just as Sean Shaw was about to say something, Claire Bennett's phone rang.
She picked it up and looked at it. Ruby Sterling was calling her.
Claire Bennett swiped to answer, but before she could speak, she heard Ruby Sterling lowering her voice. Her strangely excited voice came through the phone...
"Claire!! Are you at Parkview Heights right now?"
"Yeah. What's wrong?" Claire Bennett replied.
"You... are you with Sean Shaw? Have you two already..." Ruby Sterling's voice came in fits and starts, as though she were walking quickly.
Claire Bennett was still wondering how Ruby Sterling could be so unbelievably well-informed when the apartment door suddenly opened.
In the doorway, Julian Sterling's tall, upright figure appeared before her eyes.
His gaze swept through the room like a hawk before landing precisely on Claire Bennett and Sean Shaw. When he saw the two of them, his expression turned even darker.
Ruby Sterling arrived a moment later behind him. When she saw that the two people inside were fully dressed, the look of utter despair on her face eased somewhat.
She had truly been terrified that when they burst in, they would see some scene they weren't supposed to see.
What if her brother went on a killing spree then?
Fortunately, Claire Bennett and Sean Shaw were only eating and hadn't done anything outrageous.
A moment ago, she had felt a little bad and wanted to warn Claire Bennett before Julian Sterling arrived so Sean Shaw could hide, but before she could finish speaking, Julian Sterling had already reached the scene.
When Claire Bennett saw Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling appear one right after the other, a look of confusion flashed in her eyes.
Wasn't Julian Sterling working overtime? Why had he come back with Ruby Sterling?
When Claire Bennett's gaze touched Julian Sterling's dark expression, her brows knit slightly.
Julian Sterling looked like he was in a pretty terrible mood. Could it be he'd been chewed out by his boss while working overtime?
