Chapter 183
I Don't Need Your Apology
Sean Shaw had originally wanted to ask Julian Sterling about their collaboration, but seeing the way he looked, he figured he was probably just overwhelmed with too much going on lately, and he didn't want to hit a sore spot while the man was already upset.
Now that he was back, it was time for him and Claire Bennett to have their own private world together.
He'd ask about the other things next time.
With that thought, Sean Shaw stood up and said, "I just remembered I still have something to take care of. I won't disturb you two any longer. I'll head back first."
Claire Bennett said in surprise, "So soon? Do you want to stay a little longer? You only just got here a little while ago, and you haven't even taken a bite of food."
Hearing Claire Bennett's words, Julian Sterling's expression darkened, and his handsome face tightened a little more.
She couldn't bear to see Sean Shaw leave?
Before leaving, Sean Shaw made a gesture to Claire Bennett that only the two of them knew, then left the apartment.
In an instant, only Claire Bennett, Julian Sterling, and Ruby Sterling were left in the apartment.
For some reason, Claire Bennett felt that the atmosphere was a little stiff. Julian Sterling's and Ruby Sterling's expressions were somewhat strange, so she decided to ease the tension.
Claire Bennett looked at Ruby Sterling and asked, "Ruby, what did you come to see me about? Oh right, what were you trying to say when you called me just now? I didn't hear you clearly."
Ruby Sterling noticed Julian Sterling's gaze sweep over her faintly, and instantly shivered.
By asking that, Claire Bennett was basically telling Julian Sterling outright that she'd tipped her off!
She was her brother's little informant. How could she help anyone else?
Ruby Sterling gave an awkward smile and said, "No... nothing. I was just passing by your place, so I came up to say hi. Now that I've said hi, I'm going home. Bye-bye!"
After saying that, Ruby Sterling immediately slipped away.
Even though she was very curious about what would happen between Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett, now that Sean Shaw had already left, it wasn't convenient for her to stay either.
At last, only Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling were left.
Claire Bennett was silent for a while longer before looking at Julian Sterling and asking, "Have you eaten yet?"
Julian Sterling's voice was a little cold and stiff. "No."
Hearing that Julian Sterling had been so busy that he still hadn't eaten by now, Claire Bennett felt absolutely heartbroken for him.
She quickly went over and pulled him to the dining table, then had him sit down and said, "Good thing I made a little extra food today. Sean didn't really eat much just now either. Just eat a little to fill your stomach."
Claire Bennett turned around, wanting to scoop some rice for Julian Sterling.
Eat Sean Shaw's leftovers? What did Claire Bennett take him for!
Julian Sterling said directly, "I'm not eating."
From just now, Claire Bennett had already sensed that Julian Sterling was in a bad mood, and now she could no longer ignore it. She set down the bowl in her hand and asked with concern, "You look like you're not in a very good mood. Why? Did something happen? Can I know about it?"
Claire Bennett remembered what she'd looked up online before.
Satisfy a man's inner world and care more about his life. She planned to transform into a thoughtful big sister, listen to Julian Sterling's work troubles, and, if necessary, help him work through his emotional issues.
Julian Sterling's expression sank, and a faint sneer surfaced in his eyes.
Could Claire Bennett really not tell why he was in such a bad mood?
"Why did you bring another man home?" Julian Sterling said coldly.
"Sean wanted to come take a look at the apartment, so I just invited him to stay for a meal while he was here. Is there a problem?" Claire Bennett didn't hide anything and told Julian Sterling honestly.
Unexpectedly, after hearing that, his expression turned even uglier.
Take a look at the apartment? What a great excuse!
Julian Sterling said mockingly, "If he wants to come, you let him come. If he wanted something else, would you agree to that too without any conditions?"
Just thinking of that possibility made the fire surging up inside Julian Sterling impossible to suppress.
Claire Bennett said helplessly, "It was my fault to bring Sean back without notifying you first. I can apologize to you."
Julian Sterling looked at her. Though she appeared to be apologizing on the surface, she actually didn't feel the slightest bit guilty, and his expression grew even darker.
What Julian Sterling really couldn't accept was that Sean Shaw was more important than he was in Claire Bennett's heart.
Julian Sterling gritted his teeth and said, "I don't need your apology!"
