Ch. 23 - How Was He Planning to Fix It

Chapter 23

How Was He Planning to Fix It

Claire Bennett's face was deathly pale, and the whole person looked deeply shaken.

Naomi Pierce shot her a glance and snorted smugly. "Claire Bennett, you heard it too, right? Ethan's uncle is back from his business trip. Ethan is definitely going to be put to good use."

Her eyes were full of triumph, as if saying: A man this outstanding is mine now, so just be jealous.

After saying that, Naomi Pierce seemed to remember something else.

She deliberately asked, "Oh right, that day I saw you leaving in a man's car. That man couldn't be your new boyfriend, could he? Where does he work? How much does he make a month?"

Among all the men Naomi Pierce had come into contact with, Ethan Sterling was already the richest and the one with the best status and standing. She refused to believe the new boyfriend Claire Bennett had found could be anything special.

Claire Bennett had no time to deal with Naomi Pierce. Right now, all she could think about was that the real Julian Sterling had come back. What was she supposed to do?

She walked over to a corner off to the side, took out her phone, and called Julian Sterling. The call connected quickly.

The man's deep, magnetic voice came through. "Hello."

"We're screwed! Do you know the real Julian Sterling is back? Didn't you say he wouldn't be back for another six months? What are we supposed to do now?" Claire Bennett's voice trembled slightly, full of tension and panic.

At that moment, Julian Sterling was sitting in his office watching the surveillance feed. In the footage, Ethan Sterling was sitting on the sofa, smiling as he waited expectantly.

The corners of Julian Sterling's lips lifted slightly. "I know. I'm the one who picked him up at the airport."

"Th-then... what are we going to do..." Claire Bennett was completely at a loss.

She had originally thought that when Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce got engaged, she could bring driver Julian Sterling with her to slap them in the face. Then the matter would be resolved perfectly, and the real Julian Sterling still wouldn't be back, so no one would know about it.

But now the real one was back. What was she supposed to do?

"I'll handle it," Julian Sterling said.

Handle it? How was he planning to handle it?

Before Claire Bennett could ask, Julian Sterling had already hung up.

Claire Bennett returned to her seat. Since Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce were looking for trouble, the painting matter could only be put on hold for now and continue after they reached an agreement.

She packed up her things and went back to the apartment. During that time, Naomi Pierce kept pressing her about her new boyfriend, but Claire Bennett didn't answer her.

Naomi Pierce thought she was feeling guilty, that she must have hit a sore spot. The smug grin on her face was practically splitting her cheeks.

...

Inside Sterling International's conference room.

Ethan Sterling had been waiting for Julian Sterling the whole time. He hadn't expected that even by quitting time, Julian Sterling still wouldn't show up, and in the end he finally couldn't hold back anymore.

"Assistant Reed, didn't you say my uncle was back? I want to see him."

Marcus Reed said without changing expression, "Young Master Ethan, Mr. Sterling manages countless affairs every day. Lately, many people have been discussing contracts with him, and he's meeting with guests right now. Do you have some urgent business?"

What he meant was that Julian Sterling was out there closing million-dollar deals by the minute. If Ethan Sterling didn't have any real business, then he shouldn't bother him over some trivial matter.

Ethan Sterling hemmed and hawed for a long time. He just wanted to make his presence felt.

Compared with clients, he really wasn't all that important.

Marcus Reed said, "Perhaps if you come by tomorrow, Mr. Sterling may have time to see you."

Ethan Sterling instantly shook off his disappointment. Since Julian Sterling didn't have time to see him today, then he would come back tomorrow instead.

With that in mind, he happily got up and left.

Watching his retreating figure, Marcus Reed couldn't help sighing. It seemed Ethan Sterling still had no idea what kind of trouble he had gotten himself into. Mr. Sterling was already making a move to teach him a lesson, and he still didn't even realize it.
