Ch. 263 - Might As Well Marry Claire Bennett

Chapter 263

Might As Well Marry Claire Bennett

Ethan Sterling and Tanya Sterling were sitting at home, watching the news with exceptionally ugly expressions. Tanya said unhappily, "She's actually pregnant? Telling reporters this now is obviously her way of forcing you to take responsibility!"

Tanya Sterling had always been a snob. The only reason she'd agreed to Naomi Pierce in the first place was because of her status as the Bennett family's daughter. Now that she knew Naomi Pierce wasn't the Bennett family's daughter, of course she no longer wanted Ethan Sterling to marry her.

What happened today at Maison Verne's new launch event had made her lose all face in high society.

For a long time to come, she probably wouldn't be able to face everyone's ridicule.

But if Naomi Pierce's matter was left dragging on without being dealt with, it would be extremely bad for Ethan Sterling's reputation. Yet if he was made to marry Naomi Pierce now, Tanya Sterling felt deeply stifled.

"For all I know, the bastard in her belly isn't even mine! There's no way I'm taking responsibility!" Ethan Sterling shouted furiously, his face ashen.

Just thinking about those videos of Naomi Pierce made his blood pressure spike.

He wanted nothing more than to strangle that woman, and now he was supposed to take responsibility for the bastard in her belly too?

What a joke!

Tanya Sterling gritted her teeth in resentment too and snorted. "Ethan, what are you planning to do now? I don't want you marrying some fake phoenix. Back when she could help your career, marrying her would've been one thing. But she's a fake. If you still marry her, then your brain must be broken! You might as well marry Claire Bennett instead!"

After all, Claire Bennett still had the identity of Queen, and plenty of people admired Queen immensely. She was no telling how much better than someone like Naomi Pierce!

Ethan Sterling's face darkened as he said, "Of course I won't marry her!"

Following Tanya Sterling's line of thought, he thought it over and remembered the changes in Claire Bennett lately. If he switched the bride to Claire Bennett, that really wouldn't be bad.

At that moment, Ethan Sterling was a little tempted.

Tanya Sterling said bitterly, "Your wedding has practically all been prepared already, and all the invitations have been sent out. Now this happens—it's making us the laughingstock of everyone."

Most importantly, Ethan Sterling had lost the Bennett family as a backer. From now on, he would probably have to go right back to working under Julian Sterling and watching his moods at Sterling International.

They had thought that by coming to Chicago to rely on Julian Sterling, they would be able to gain some advantage.

But Julian Sterling had never given them any convenience at all.

As if thinking of something, Tanya Sterling's expression eased. She said, "Naomi Pierce isn't the Bennett family's daughter, so she'll definitely have to leave Maison Verne. Then wouldn't that mean you could take full charge of Maison Verne?"

Back then, she'd had Naomi Pierce get a new project for Ethan Sterling because she didn't want him being held down by Naomi Pierce.

Now hadn't that unexpectedly achieved the goal?

Thinking of that, Tanya Sterling swept away her earlier gloom and suddenly became happy.

Unexpectedly, Ethan Sterling was not nearly so pleased. With a dark expression, he said, "Julian Sterling isn't someone who's that easy to talk to. What happened this time made Sterling International lose face. He might not let me stay on any longer."

It had to be said that Ethan Sterling did understand Julian Sterling to some extent.

"Then what do we do now?" Tanya Sterling grew anxious and said, "How about you go beg Victor Bennett to help? We're victims too—we were deceived by Naomi Pierce. See if he can make an exception and put in a good word for you."

The top priority was preserving Ethan Sterling's career. Tanya Sterling was willing to put aside her pride; there was nothing wrong with going to beg Victor Bennett.

"I'll call Victor Bennett!"

As Ethan Sterling said this, he took out his phone and dialed Victor Bennett's number.
