Chapter 378
Setting a Trap to Expose Julian Sterling
Cole Medical Center.
In the office, Zane Cole was sighing with a worried frown, looking deeply troubled. His tightly knitted brows looked like they could crush countless mosquitoes to death.
Just then, another doctor came in. Seeing him like this, he asked curiously, "Dr. Cole, what's wrong? Is there some especially difficult patient you can't do anything about?"
Zane Cole let out a heavy sigh.
It wasn't that there was some difficult patient he couldn't handle, but that he wanted to expose Julian Sterling's identity and hadn't come up with any good way to do it.
If he told Claire Bennett directly, she definitely wouldn't believe him.
As for the matter involving the Sterling family and Megan Shaw Bennett, he was still investigating it, and so far there were no results. Without any evidence, he couldn't just casually tell Claire Bennett either. If it turned out to be a misunderstanding, Claire Bennett would think he was stirring up trouble and come to dislike him for it.
Megan Shaw Bennett was too important to Claire Bennett.
So now he could only start with Julian Sterling's identity.
That was the root of his headache. He had been thinking about it since last night until now, and he still hadn't solved the problem!
Zane Cole looked up at that doctor and said gloomily, "Let me ask you, if some guy was acting all high and mighty in front of you, pretending all day that he's broke and has no money, what would you do? How could you expose him?"
After hearing Zane Cole's words, the doctor showed a thoughtful expression.
"How about asking him to lend you money?"
Zane Cole sneered. Ask Julian Sterling to lend him money?
Their relationship wasn't at the point where they could borrow money from each other, right? That idea wasn't very workable.
Zane Cole shook his head and said, "No. We don't have a very good relationship. What else?"
"What else..." The doctor scratched his head and said, "A person's spending habits and sense of status are formed over time from childhood to adulthood. They shouldn't be easy to break. No matter how much that person pretends, there will be times when he slips up. Dr. Cole, do you know Cloud Pavilion on the top floor of Empire Tower in downtown New York?"
Zane Cole nodded. "Who doesn't know it? Isn't that the most famous private kitchen restaurant in New York? I heard it specifically caters to rich people, and one meal costs a fortune."
"Especially the chefs there. Besides Elder Chu, our country's veteran god-tier chef, they also brought back a Michelin executive chef from Country F. The appearance fees for both of them are extremely high. Ordinary people wouldn't eat at that restaurant. Why are you bringing that up?"
Back when Zane Cole became famous, someone from one of New York's wealthy families had once thrown around huge money to invite him to eat at Cloud Pavilion, so he knew a bit about the place.
He also seemed to vaguely remember hearing that Cloud Pavilion had some connection with Crown Taste House in Chicago and Sterling Group.
When the Sterling family had previously asked him to come treat someone, they had invited him to Cloud Pavilion too. Putting that together, there really was a possibility they were connected!
After hearing Zane Cole's words, the doctor smiled and continued, "Since you and that person don't get along, then you can use another method that's different in form but similar in effect to borrowing money!"
Zane Cole raised an eyebrow, signaling for him to continue.
"I heard Cloud Pavilion came out with an Empire Set Meal, personally prepared by both executive chefs, a Chinese-Western fusion feast. But having the Empire Set Meal once costs a fortune. I'd heard about it long ago and never had the chance to see it for myself. You can find a way to invite that person to the restaurant, and then have him pay the bill at the end. He'd have to give himself away then, right?"
This doctor was clearly an expert when it came to food, and now that he was talking about Cloud Pavilion, he went on and on without stopping.
After hearing this doctor's words, a smile appeared at the corners of Zane Cole's mouth.
This idea really was pretty good!
And based on the information he'd learned before, if Cloud Pavilion really did have deep ties with the Sterling family, then Julian Sterling would definitely slip up if he went there.
Then Claire Bennett would be able to see this man's true face!
Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling stayed at the hospital with Grandma Shaw for most of the day. Only after repeatedly confirming that there was nothing abnormal about her did she finally relax.
Just as the two of them were getting ready to leave the hospital, her phone rang. It was a call from Zane Cole.
With Julian Sterling beside her, he saw the caller ID note at a glance.
His eyes darkened a little, but he said nothing, only stood quietly by Claire Bennett's side.
Looks like Zane Cole was clinging very tightly to Claire Bennett. Luckily, tomorrow they would be leaving New York and going back.
When Claire Bennett saw that it was Zane Cole calling, she thought something had happened with her mother. She quickly answered, "Zhouzhou, why are you calling me? Did something happen?"
Zane Cole's voice came through. "No. Aunt Qing's condition is very stable right now. I'm calling you about something else."
Hearing that nothing was wrong, the heart Claire Bennett had been holding up instantly relaxed. "Oh, that's good. By the way, what did you call me for?"
Zane Cole gave a light cough and said casually, "You got married without making a sound, and I still haven't properly gotten to know your husband. With how close we are, shouldn't your husband treat me to a meal?"
"Uh..." Claire Bennett lifted her eyes to glance at Julian Sterling and said, "We can treat you to a meal. I'll ask him if he's free."
After hearing that, Julian Sterling vaguely guessed what Zane Cole had said to Claire Bennett, and he asked, "What's wrong?"
Claire Bennett said, "Zhouzhou says he wants you to treat him to a meal. He wants to properly get to know you."
Julian Sterling's eyes darkened slightly, and he looked surprised.
Last time, Zane Cole had already torn all pretense with him and had even said he wanted to compete with him fairly. Now he was actually taking the initiative to ask to eat with him. There had to be something fishy going on.
Although he guessed that Zane Cole probably had bad intentions, he still nodded and said, "Sure."
While the two were talking, on the other end, Zane Cole had already heard Julian Sterling's voice.
