Ch. 390 - The Sterling Family Won't Mistreat Her

Chapter 390

The Sterling Family Won't Mistreat Her

He felt that man, Zane Cole, was a little dangerous, so it would be better to keep Claire Bennett away from him.

When they went back to Chicago, that man still had a hospital situation tying him down, so he probably wouldn't go through all the trouble of chasing them all the way to Chicago.

Claire Bennett didn't hesitate for long before saying at once, "Let's leave tomorrow. We only stayed because Grandma fell ill. Since she's fine now and Grandpa and Grandma have both been visited, there's no need to stay any longer. I still have to get back to Chicago and start working on my own matters, or I might lose to Hazel Lewis."

Just mentioning that woman made Claire Bennett feel a little irritated.

She let out a dissatisfied huff and said, "Hazel Lewis came after me this time, didn't she? How did she get President Sterling to agree to let her join Sterling International and set up a new department? President Sterling is actually helping her!"

Based on what Claire Bennett understood now, President Sterling was Julian Sterling's boss. Logically, he should be on his side, so how could he possibly be helping someone else?

She truly couldn't figure that out.

When Julian Sterling heard that, he guiltily touched his nose.

A lie was like a snowball. Once it started rolling, it would just keep getting bigger and bigger without end, and in the end it might develop into something impossible to clean up. He felt that he really couldn't keep lying anymore.

Julian Sterling suppressed the thoughts in his heart and tried to explain, "Maybe the Lewis family and the Sterling family have business dealings, and President Sterling is giving President Lewis some face."

"Oh, so that's it." Claire Bennett didn't suspect anything and quickly accepted the explanation.

Seeing that Claire Bennett didn't suspect anything, Julian Sterling's tense mood eased a little.

What he had told Ruby Sterling was right. It was time to tell Claire Bennett his identity.

Otherwise, if unnecessary trouble came up later, it would only make the relationship between him and Claire Bennett even worse.

But now wasn't a good time to tell Claire Bennett. He wanted to wait until the results of this showdown between Maison Verne and Nia came out.

The next morning, Claire Bennett got up early. She had bought three plane tickets the night before for today. She was taking Sienna Shaw and Julian Sterling back to Chicago with her.

In the span of just one day, Sienna Shaw's emotions had swung through panic several times.

At first, Claire Bennett had said she wanted her to come work in Chicago together, but after she had packed her things, she sent her a message saying to wait for the time being because she had other things to deal with. It looked like she had regrets, which made her extremely uneasy.

She was a little afraid that something had gone wrong.

If Claire Bennett had changed her mind, Sienna Shaw wouldn't blame her. After all, Claire Bennett had already helped her quite a bit before.

Now if she simply backed out of helping her, that wasn't really such a big deal either.

Still, Sienna Shaw felt a little disappointed inside. After meeting Claire Bennett, she had thought she saw a new hope.

Sigh, so be it.

Sienna Shaw had decided that Claire Bennett had regretted it.

The next day, the doorbell to Sienna Shaw's apartment rang. When she opened the door, she saw a man and a woman standing outside.

"Sienna, are you ready? We should get going," Claire Bennett said with a smile as she looked at her.

Sienna Shaw froze where she stood and could only stare blankly at Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling in front of her, unable to come back to herself for a long while.

Claire Bennett!

"What's wrong? Aren't you happy to see me?"

It wasn't until Claire Bennett said the second sentence that she came back to herself. "So... Song Manager."

"Have you finished packing your things?"

"All packed!" Sienna Shaw nodded hard.

Only then did Claire Bennett remember to introduce Julian Sterling to Sienna Shaw. Sienna Shaw probably still didn't know that she was already married.

When Sienna Shaw had known her, she hadn't even started dating Ethan Sterling yet.

Claire Bennett gave an embarrassed little cough and introduced him in a muffled voice, "Sienna Shaw, this is my... husband."

Claire Bennett said those last two words a little guiltily, and her voice dropped a little softer.

But both Julian Sterling beside her and Sienna Shaw heard her clearly.

A faint smile appeared in Julian Sterling's eyes. Clearly, he was very satisfied that Claire Bennett was giving him face in front of other people.

He liked it when Claire Bennett called him her husband. It meant he and Claire Bennett were very close.

Sienna Shaw hadn't expected that when she saw Claire Bennett again, she would have become a married woman, and her husband seemed pretty good. He just looked a little familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn't remember for the moment.

"Hello, my last name is Sterling."

Julian Sterling politely nodded to Sienna Shaw in greeting.

Sienna Shaw quickly nodded and replied, "Hello, my name is Sienna Shaw. I used to be Claire Bennett's subordinate."

After a brief greeting, Claire Bennett glanced at the time and then said, "All right, it's about time. Let's go."

"Okay."

Julian Sterling took the initiative to carry the two women's suitcases for them, looking very gentlemanly and considerate.

Sienna Shaw couldn't help leaning in to whisper to Claire Bennett, "Song Manager, your husband seems really great. When did you two get married?"

Claire Bennett felt a little awkward. The matter between her and Julian Sterling probably wasn't something she should publicize too much, so she sidestepped the issue and said, "About a year ago."

"That's such a shame. I didn't get to see you in a wedding dress," Sienna Shaw said with a look of regret.

Seeing that, Claire Bennett added, "Actually... we only got the marriage license. We haven't had a wedding yet."

Sienna Shaw was a lively girl. There was no distance between her and Claire Bennett, and now that they were familiar again, she asked countless questions, almost making it impossible for Claire Bennett to handle.

"Song Manager, aren't you planning to have a wedding? A wedding is every girl's lifelong dream. Did your husband ever propose to you?"
