Chapter 391
A Third-Rate Designer
Marriage?
Her marriage certificate with Julian Sterling had been an accident to begin with, so of course none of the usual steps ordinary couples go through had happened.
Right now, they didn't even have a house yet.
They were still temporarily renting Wes Mercer's apartment. They didn't even have the basic material conditions, so what marriage were they talking about?
Sienna Shaw's words made Claire Bennett start thinking about the issue, and she quickly found a new goal!
This time, she was definitely going to defeat Hazel Lewis and successfully establish a firm foothold at Sterling International. Only then could she earn more money.
Although she could use her identity as Queen to keep selling her designs on design websites, she knew that wasn't a long-term solution.
The ring had sold for such a high price before entirely because she hadn't appeared under that identity for many years, and on top of that, she hadn't revealed herself at the time. She had been full of mystery, and everyone had a curiosity-driven mentality. It was only because of the perfect timing, favorable conditions, and collective hype that such a result had happened.
But now that her identity had been exposed, it wouldn't have that kind of effect.
If she kept selling there long-term, it would only make that identity of hers less and less valuable. It would be better to maintain the prestige it ought to have.
She decided she should still make money through hard work. Once she had saved up enough bride money, she'd be able to marry Julian Sterling and bring him home.
Claire Bennett took Sienna Shaw back to Chicago and even rented a place with her. Only after everything had been settled did she finally feel at ease.
She was afraid Sienna Shaw wouldn't adjust well in an unfamiliar place, so she did her best to solve all her troubles for her. She even had her hold off on paying rent for the time being.
Besides feeling grateful, Sienna Shaw secretly swore to herself that she would definitely work well for Claire Bennett!
...
The next day, the Maison Verne Jewelry department.
The department, usually bustling with activity, now had only three people left in its empty space.
Everyone had been poached by Hazel Lewis over to Nia, and Nia was even one floor above Maison Verne, with their office space literally pressing down on top of theirs!
Now the three designers still hadn't been hired either. Molly Lee let out a faint sigh. She felt Manager Song must be under tremendous pressure.
Claire Bennett, however, wasn't as dejected as Molly Lee. She clapped her hands and said, "Alright, for now it's just the three of us in the department. As for everyone else, I'll keep recruiting. You two just need to do your own jobs well."
After saying that, she turned to Sienna Shaw and said, "In three months, Maison Verne and Nia will be calculating their revenue, so during this period we have to start designing new pieces and put them into production. We also need to find new people for the later promotional work and all that, but you don't need to worry about that. Sienna, you just need to focus on design."
"Okay, I'll definitely design the best works possible." Sienna Shaw nodded firmly.
Claire Bennett smiled softly, feeling that everything was moving in a good direction.
"Tsk, I was wondering who it was. So it turns out you found Sienna Shaw, Claire Bennett. Looks like now you're only fit to use this kind of third-rate designer." A snide, sarcastic voice suddenly came from the doorway.
The three of them looked over at the sound and saw that Willow Lane had arrived at some point.
Her eyes, full of mockery, landed on Sienna Shaw, and her face was filled with disdain.
When Sienna Shaw saw Willow Lane, her expression turned ugly. Although working with Willow Lane had been a long time ago, the dislike and fear Willow Lane inspired in her seemed deeply carved into her bones. The moment she saw her again, those feelings were stirred back up.
Claire Bennett gave Sienna Shaw's shoulder a reassuring pat, then looked at Willow Lane and said, "Willow Lane, instead of staying in your new department, what are you doing running over here? You're not welcome here."
