Do You Really Want to Be with Zane Cole?
Claire Bennett's body went rigid on the spot. She didn't dare move and just let Julian Sterling hold her like that.
Julian's voice was low and husky as he asked, "Claire, do you really want to be with Zane Cole?"
Hearing Julian's question, Claire's heart clenched.
Just now, she had only agreed to Zane on purpose because she knew Julian and Ruby Sterling were secretly watching from over there. The person she liked was Julian, so how could she possibly have a change of heart and get together with another man in just two days?
Even back when it was Ethan Sterling, she had only gradually fallen for Julian through spending day and night together with him.
Liking someone was something long-term, not something that changed so easily.
Unless some upheaval happened, like what had happened with Ethan Sterling back then...
"I..." Claire started to speak, but before she could finish, Julian suddenly cupped her head in his hands, lowered his head, and kissed her on the lips.
Claire hadn't expected Julian to kiss her out of nowhere, and his kiss was extremely forceful, carrying a sweeping dominance that left her unable to fend him off. In the end, she could only clutch his suit jacket and go limp in his arms.
Just then, the door to the hospital room flew open with a bang.
Old Mr. Sterling, Old Mrs. Sterling, along with Mr. Sterling and Mrs. Sterling, and the whole group of them were all standing in the doorway, looking inside.
Claire was startled all of a sudden. She hadn't expected Old Mr. Sterling to appear here.
She abruptly shoved Julian away and stood there with a face full of embarrassment and awkwardness. Seeing this whole family suddenly appear, and knowing they had all seen her and Julian kissing, just thinking about it made her want to die of humiliation.
Julian slowly straightened up, without the slightest trace of embarrassment at being caught. "What are you all doing here?"
"Hmph! You've got some nerve asking that!" Old Mr. Sterling's sharp eyes turned toward Claire, and the pressure on her was overwhelming. At that moment, Julian sensed her discomfort and stepped forward to stand in front of her.
When Old Mr. Sterling saw that Julian was actually still protecting Claire right in front of him, he became even more upset on the spot.
Seeing Julian standing in front of her to protect her, Claire felt a surge of emotion in her heart.
Grandpa Sterling didn't like her, and on top of Uncle Sterling's matter, there was no possibility at all between them.
The atmosphere was rigid, bristling with tense hostility.
Just then, the door to the hospital room suddenly opened, and a nurse walked in, breaking the deadlock in the atmosphere.
When Old Mrs. Sterling saw the nurse, she stepped forward and asked, "Miss, what's wrong with my grandson's health? Did something happen to him? Were all the tests okay? Is he uncomfortable anywhere?"
"Uh... there's nothing wrong with this gentleman's body."
Everyone let out a breath of relief, and the huge weight in their hearts finally lifted.
Unexpectedly, they had barely been happy for a moment before the nurse continued, "But this young lady's issue is more serious."
Hearing that, everyone looked in the direction the nurse was pointing. The person she was pointing at was actually Claire!
Even Julian frowned tightly, not knowing what exactly the nurse meant.
Under everyone's intense stares, the nurse braced herself and said, "Miss, you're already pregnant. You need to be more careful from now on and not bump into anything."
As soon as the words fell, the hospital room went completely silent, and it seemed like the sound of sharp inhalations could be heard.
Claire froze in shock. What did that mean? She was pregnant? How did she not know about this?
