Ch. 62 - Being a Full-Time Housewife at Home

Chapter 62

Being a Full-Time Housewife at Home

At that moment, Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen also received calls from their supervisor one after another.

"You seriously violated company discipline. You're now fired from the company. As for the penalty for terminating your contract, HR will discuss it with you."

The two of them froze in place. They had been fired?

"Supervisor, what company discipline did I violate exactly?"

They desperately admitted fault and were even willing to have their bonuses deducted, but Sterling International's supervisor was utterly cold and showed not the slightest bit of leniency, telling both of them to come in tomorrow immediately to process their resignation paperwork.

Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen's legs went weak. Their hearts sank into despair, and it felt like the sky was collapsing.

They had just charged a huge amount to their credit cards. Now that they had been fired, how were they supposed to pay off those credit cards?

"Assistant Pierce, please say something nice about us to Manager Sterling. We don't even know what we did wrong, and now the company actually wants to fire us."

Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen immediately threw themselves at Naomi Pierce, trying to cling to her for dear life.

Naomi Pierce herself had been dismissed by Ethan Sterling under the pretext of becoming a full-time housewife at home. She could barely save herself, so how could she help the two of them?

Her face turned pale and stiff, and she became even more suspicious that the person helping Claire Bennett behind the scenes was Ethan Sterling.

Could it be that he regretted it?

Why was he helping Claire Bennett?

The more Naomi Pierce thought about it, the worse she felt. Her fingers dug tightly into her palms. Too bad she still hadn't gotten that video of Claire Bennett yet. Otherwise, she would definitely show Ethan Sterling exactly what kind of used-up, ruined woman Claire Bennett was!

Fortunately, she would soon be getting engaged to Ethan Sterling.

Everything would be settled then, and she wouldn't have to worry about Claire Bennett stealing Ethan Sterling back.

After Claire Bennett rented the gown, Ruby Sterling drove her back to her apartment.

Over the next few days, she went to Sterling International to paint every day. Maybe because Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce were too busy, she didn't run into them again.

That did make life feel much better.

Unfortunately, Julian Sterling still hadn't returned from his business trip. Claire Bennett couldn't help feeling a little worried. On the day of Ethan Sterling's engagement, would he even be able to make it back in time?

Ruby Sterling had sworn to her that Julian Sterling would definitely come back.

Claire Bennett chose to believe her best friend, and at the same time, to believe Julian Sterling.

In the days that followed, Claire Bennett was alone by herself: painting, going home, eating, sleeping. Her life ran on a rigid three-point routine. Julian Sterling would occasionally send her messages, but most of the time he seemed very busy.

She understood that Julian Sterling was accompanying his employer and that it wasn't convenient for him to chat casually, so she didn't bother him much.

In the blink of an eye, it was the day of Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce's engagement.

Early that morning, Claire Bennett and Ruby Sterling were at Vivian Yu Studio, where they got absolutely stunning styling done before getting into the car together and heading to the engagement venue.

Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce's engagement banquet was being held at Peony Garden in Chicago.

Peony Garden was located inside a dreamlike manor castle.

This manor castle only received distinguished guests. Ordinary people weren't even qualified to hold a wedding here. Only people of noble status were qualified to make a reservation when it was open for booking.

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Claire Bennett watched the scenery constantly retreat outside the window, and she couldn't help feeling a little nervous.

The battle was about to begin, but Julian Sterling still hadn't appeared.

She turned to look at Ruby Sterling and asked with some worry, "Ruby, has Julian Sterling really already returned to Chicago? Are you sure?"

He was the most crucial person. Without him here now, Claire Bennett was inevitably a little uneasy.

Ruby Sterling patted her chest and swore, "Don't worry. They already got back last night. I tricked my brother into going somewhere else. He'll be here very soon."

Hearing that, Claire Bennett's heart finally settled completely.

Then she didn't have to worry about the real Julian Sterling showing up and exposing her. She could openly use the fake Julian Sterling to slap Ethan Sterling in the face.

Dream Castle.

The place had already been decorated into a dreamy, beautiful scene. The whole garden was full of blooming peonies competing in splendor, and with decorations like balloons and gauzy drapery, it looked dazzlingly gorgeous, filled with a romantic atmosphere, as if simply being there let you feel the sweetness in the air.

Ethan Sterling was dressed in a white suit today, making him look especially handsome and striking.

Naomi Pierce stood beside him, receiving the distinguished guests with him.

What Naomi Pierce was wearing today was a white haute couture gown by a famous designer, embellished with tiny diamonds that gave off a dazzling shine under the lights. The high-slit design fully showed off the curves of her figure, making her alluring and sexy.

She radiated a high-profile flamboyance overall. The two of them looked like a perfect golden couple and seemed extremely well matched.

Taking advantage of the engagement banquet, Ethan Sterling had invited quite a few wealthy tycoons and elites from the financial world. Those bosses had in turn brought a number of celebrities with them, and the famous figures appearing one after another made the reporters on site keep pressing the shutters of their cameras.

In the parking lot not far away, a low-key car was parked in a space.

Through the car window, Claire Bennett saw Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce at the entrance greeting guests.

She glanced at her phone. It was still early, and Julian Sterling hadn't arrived yet, so there was no need to rush inside.

Claire Bennett said, "Let's wait a little longer."

Ruby Sterling had no objection. She merely took out her phone and sent Julian Sterling a text message, asking when exactly he could get there. Everything was ready; all they were missing was him!
