Ch. 98 - Mr. Sterling's Voice Sounds Exactly Like Julian Sterling's

Chapter 98

Mr. Sterling's Voice Sounds Exactly Like Julian Sterling's

Sterling International's underground parking garage.

Claire Bennett got out through the back door. There were no reporters staking this place out, and she quickly entered the garage without being spotted.

When she saw the familiar yet unfamiliar luxury car in the reserved parking spot, she became even more certain that Mr. Sterling was at Sterling International today.

There was a private elevator in Sterling International's garage that went straight to the top floor. It required either a key card or a passcode to access.

Claire Bennett stood by the elevator entrance, pacing anxiously in circles.

What should she do?

If she couldn't get into Sterling International, how was she supposed to see Mr. Sterling?

Suddenly, Claire Bennett's gaze landed on the keypad beside the elevator, and she thought, Why not just try something at random?

After thinking for a moment, she reached out and entered a random code.

Sure enough, it said the passcode was incorrect.

She tried several more in a row—her birthday, Ruby Sterling's birthday, and so on—but none of them worked!

What other number combinations could she use?

At last, she remembered the information on the marriage certificate: Julian Sterling's birthday! She still hadn't tried his birthday.

With a let's-just-see mindset, she entered it. To her surprise, the elevator gave a ding and the doors opened!

Huh... the code was right?!!

Claire Bennett pinched her thigh in disbelief. Ow... that hurt! She really wasn't dreaming. The code actually was correct.

Not daring to think too much about it, she stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

The elevator stopped on the top floor. Claire Bennett looked around for a moment, then nervously stepped out.

This was her first time setting foot inside Sterling International, and at that, on that Mr. Sterling's turf.

The unknown ahead made her extremely nervous.

The floor was covered with soft gray carpet, and walking on it felt like stepping on cotton.

Claire Bennett walked straight ahead. Before long, she reached the inner area, where a broad door appeared before her, with a gleaming metal plaque mounted on it.

It read: Chairman's Office

This had to be Mr. Sterling's office.

After taking a deep breath, Claire Bennett reached out and gently knocked on the office door.

After she knocked twice, a deep, pleasant voice came from inside. "Come in."

Claire Bennett froze, then hesitated for a moment. This voice...

Why did she feel like this Mr. Sterling's voice sounded so much like Julian Sterling's? The pitch, and even the tone, were so similar.

But she quickly pushed the thought aside.

It was just two short words, and she had actually heard a similarity in them. That was simply a little absurd.

After getting Mr. Sterling's permission, Claire Bennett reached out, pushed open the office door, and walked in.

The huge office was decorated in an overall modern minimalist style, understated in gray, black, and white. In the center sat a heavy solid-wood desk, and beyond that was a genuine leather sofa chair.

At that moment, the back of the chair was facing Claire Bennett. She knew that Mr. Sterling was sitting there.

Thinking of the Mr. Sterling she had met last time, a blurry figure surfaced in Claire Bennett's mind. Just as she was spacing out, she heard a voice...

"Is it taken care of?"

Claire Bennett froze in place, her brows knitting tightly. She really hadn't heard wrong just now!

If that voice wasn't Julian Sterling's, then whose was it?!

There was no way she could mistake it!

Julian Sterling was actually sitting inside the Sterling International president's office?

Seated in the chair, Julian Sterling had gone a while without hearing Marcus Reed's voice, so he turned the chair around.

When he turned back around, he saw Claire Bennett standing in front of him.

Julian Sterling had thought the person coming in was Marcus Reed. He had never expected it to be Claire Bennett.

Her eyes were wide as she stared blankly at him, her gaze full of shock, astonishment, and disbelief.

As their eyes met, the air suddenly fell silent.

After Marcus Reed had dealt with the reporters at Sterling International's entrance, he came back and saw Julian Sterling's second assistant, Wes Mercer, walking out from the direction of the restroom clutching his stomach.

Today it was just the two of them in the office. He had gone downstairs earlier to deal with the reporters, and he hadn't expected Wes Mercer to come down with diarrhea.

Marcus Reed asked with concern, "Wes Mercer, what's wrong?"

"I don't know what I ate today, but I've already run to the bathroom twice. I've diarrhea'd so hard my legs are weak. Ow! Never mind, can't talk to you—I need to go again..."

As he spoke, Wes Mercer clutched his stomach and rushed toward the restroom.

Marcus Reed shook his head sympathetically. He walked toward Julian Sterling's office, and when he reached the door, he saw the situation inside through the half-open doorway.

Inside the office, Claire Bennett was standing with her back to the door.

And Julian Sterling was sitting in the chair. The two of them had actually run straight into each other!

Oh no, had Mr. Sterling's identity been exposed?

Just then, Marcus Reed saw Julian Sterling glance over casually. As the president's top special assistant, his ability to read expressions and judge situations had already been honed to perfection.

With just one look from Julian Sterling, he immediately understood what it meant.

Marcus Reed turned right back around and charged straight into the restroom. "Wes Mercer, get the fuck out here!"

Inside the restroom, Wes Mercer was in the middle of having a satisfying shit when Marcus Reed startled him so badly his asshole clenched. After hearing that, he immediately said irritably, "There are so many stalls here, and you have to try to steal mine? Did you do that on purpose? I'm not coming out!"

It was a ten-thousand-times urgent emergency. How could Marcus Reed have time to explain? He directly kicked the stall door open.

Bang—

With a loud crash, the door was forced open.

Wes Mercer covered his privates with a look of horror. "Holy shit, are you a pervert?!"
