The Video That Stole Her Face

Ch. 11 - Play the Source, Not the Lie

Chapter 11

Play the Source, Not the Lie

Gavin told the procurement panel he had never controlled Halcyon's media campaign.

Aria did not replay the viral video. She showed the protected source, the limited comparison, the paid distribution timing, and the executive identifier attached to Gavin's final command.

Omar authenticated the network graph. Petra authenticated the render receipt. Dean admitted the access sale and produced the camera card. Lila's nonvisual records connected the same system to an earlier target without exposing her private footage.

Gavin called the command fabricated.

"Read the phrase you use for emergency releases," Aria said.

He refused. The panel chair read his prior procurement emails. Each used the same instruction: release all sources. The identifier matched his executive key.

Outside, the paid accounts continued posting, but the hearing feed now carried a shorter, verifiable chain. Public belief did not reverse at once. Contract authority did.

The panel froze the vote.

Gavin leaned into his microphone. "Ms. Chen designed the watermark and audit system that produced these materials. If there was manipulation, she built the instrument."

Aria opened her signed audit history.

Its first warning was addressed to him six months earlier.
