Chapter 109
The Bridge Without Traffic
The city had no buses at dawn. One of the bridges stayed empty.
Elise stood there because Bell said the bridge route had never been used in their public narrative, and now maybe it mattered.
Priya joined with a tablet loaded with route overlays.
Mara came later with two copies and a notebook.
"This bridge had one maintenance marker," she said. "Why we never put it in court matters."
They compared their old bridge map to a hidden utility sketch.
One line had been erased and restored with a different shade.
Elise traced it. "This is where we saw no traffic and still had active queue commands."
Priya added metadata: this route had no audio capture but had relay updates.
Bell requested one emergency hearing continuation.
At hearing, the judge asked why the bridge route had not been disclosed earlier.
Elise answered, "Because we thought it was a blind corridor. We were wrong."
Priya said, "Silence from the public side does not erase internal relay."
Mara wrote the line underlined and handed it to the panel.
The judge ordered bridge relay logs under subpoena.
Elise looked for a sign and found one card on the rail:
Bridge routes are not empty.
She pocketed it.
Later, the unknown source sent one phrase:
**No traffic means there was no audience.
Elise replied to no one: "Now there is."
She wrote in her timeline:
A route with no traffic can still carry legal commands.
