Chapter 122
The Record Keeper
The record keeper finally appeared in person.
Not in a suit, not in a badge, only with a black satchel and one keyless folder.
Elise met her in the hallway behind the hearing office, and she said,
"I do what I can when records are used and names disappear."
Priya said, "Then help us prove who authorized the queue."
The keeper pulled one card from her satchel and handed it over without words.
UNLISTED OWNER - manual maintenance.
No person sign.
No witness override log.
"That's all I can provide," she said.
Bell said, "That's enough."
Mara asked for source chain.
She shook her head. "I can’t say names."
Elise said, "Then say categories."
The keeper wrote one line at the bottom:
Room channel used by one actor outside formal register.
Priya photographed and made one immediate legal packet.
At hearing, they submitted the keeper’s statement as an independent witness to maintenance category.
The panel asked if this meant obstruction.
Elise answered, "It means unregistered category has legal power currently. That is the issue."
No one argued.
After hearing, they kept the satchel safe in Bell’s locked file cabinet.
At home, Elise asked herself if they had become too dependent on anonymous leaks.
Priya answered over text:
Anonymous is a symptom. Documentation is a treatment.
Elise wrote that line on the satchel label.
