The receiver on desk three had no power button.
It still held one ring in history, and every ring had the same three-tone pattern.
Elise tested the receiver with Priya watching.
The tones were not random.
They matched the rhythm of an old emergency line from the building service.
Bell brought a waveform and pinned it under paper:

This line never belonged to the building office.
Priya traced the source and found one old maintenance invoice with the same number but no vendor.
Elise carried the receiver to court and asked to inspect.
The court technical staff said it was decorative.
She handed them a printout.
The printout had six timestamps. Three were from hearing day. Three from the hidden floor logs.
Every timestamp shared one metadata tag:
source: room_relay.
The panel asked for a direct chain.
Priya said the relay had no physical signature, only a backup route used when the primary line disappeared.
Elise held up the receiver.
What you call decorative is still used during transfer.
If it was never installed as a transfer device, why was it never inventoried?

By night, Priya found a final detail on the receiver's base.
