The Wife Who Gave Everything

Ch. 51 - The Unsealed Floor

Chapter 51

The Unsealed Floor

At sunrise, Bell said: "We have to assume legal review will delay. They might drag this for months."

Elise answered, "Then we force one nonlegal signal."

Priya prepared one analog route with three locked packets and a plain note.

"The unsealed floor is our leverage," Priya said.

They went to the same annex and entered through service stairs, but this time they carried no drives.

The floor below Room S had a heavy steel grille.

"You see this?" Mara said to Bell. "The seal has been scratched clean."

Bell said, "Someone expected someone else to come before we did."

Inside the room below, there were no microphones, only old floorboards and one whiteboard with a timeline from years ago:

July 2024: Consent transfer.
Dec: Witness reassignment.
Jan: Private archive conversion.
Now: public chain challenge.

Elise added one line with a red marker: Missing: NIA real identity.

Priya scanned the board and read metadata from a corner.

The board's marker lines had never been erased, only covered.

"One line appears under UV only," Priya said.

Room without witness can still be heard under floodlight.

"Who writes this?" Bell asked.

"Could be the old operator."

Mara said, "Or the operator’s replacement."

At 11:05, Bell received a sealed courier and one final call from Helen:

Judiciary requests one full chain before final hearing date.

Elise said, "Then we bring the unsealed floor."

The route to city hall was long and the building watched them from every floor.

In the old elevator they found no numbers. Priya counted floors in her head.

At City Hall, Bell handed over a short chain package: signatures, room logs, witness route, no raw recordings.

The clerk said, "You’re asking too much too fast."

Elise replied, "You already edited too much for too long."

The room paused.

Mara sat and wrote on the white paper:

We request chain reconstruction with third-party timestamp witness.

The clerk accepted and gave them a temporary token.

By evening they had one new date on the calendar: emergency hearing in six days, public venue.

Priya checked the route card and said, "They made a mistake. The old calendar says six days means one crowd window."

Elise nodded. "Use it."

At night she received a final text from Bell:

If they block the hearing, use corridor 0.

She slept with that line for a while and dreamed of a floor without walls.
