The Witness at Noon
At noon, the hearing office was not where it had been the day before.
The room had become a conference room with three microphones, two legal pads, and one wall clock that did not move.
Elise placed the chain packet in the center and said, "No more add-ons. Only what supports the missing signature."
Bell read his portion in short sentences.
Priya laid out three stamped copies and one blank note titled ROOM S.
Mara gave her witness statement without looking at anyone.
I am not here to prove a private scandal. I am here to prove the chain changed names to preserve a structure.
The hearing assistant wrote every line but kept the door open and the noise down.
"Next question," one official said. "Why are your documents so physically fragmented?"
Elise answered, "Because the room made every copy incomplete unless copied by hand."
The assistant said, "That sounds emotional."
Priya said, "That sounds technical."
Bell added, "When we said incomplete it was because signatures could not stabilize in one system."
The official asked for one final phrase in plain terms.
Elise said, "If a room can be entered and edited without visible trace, nobody can trust one witness."
Silence.
Then the official asked, "Who is June?"
Elise said after one full breath, "A legal mechanism, a file name, and probably a person. We still need that last truth."
Mara said quietly, "She was never supposed to be a person."
The official asked for another question.
"Do you have proof of immediate risk?"
Priya held out the fresh print from room S showing the missing one.

No face
No consent
The room looked like it had moved backward in time.
At 12:50 they were released with a note: hearing status under supplemental review and interim protective watch.
Elise and Bell stepped into heat and noise.
"Did we win?" Bell asked.
Priya shook her head. "We got a clock."
Elise said, "A clock is enough until it starts."
She opened the old envelope from no sender and found a line in graphite:
Witness at noon is never the one who appears.
She did not answer it.
At dusk, a city news anchor reached her by text:
Can you confirm a missing witness file involves court and private media?
Elise typed: We can confirm procedure and sequence mismatch. then stopped.
Mara said, "If we go public now, we force speed."
Elise wrote her final line for day:
We are no longer seeking one answer. We are preserving enough to force answers.
