Corridor of Witnesses

No cameras in that room.

She said, "You should have done this years ago."

Elise answered, "That’s your job."

The auditor smiled without warmth and asked for the third envelope.

Mara passed the operator ledger.

"This is where your witness list is incomplete." The auditor said, and wrote three points.

1. Insertion at 11:17. 2. No-face witness segment. 3. Missing third-party signature for transfer.

Bell checked her pen.

She said, "Where was this process controlled from?"

No one spoke.

Priya answered, "Room S has a maintenance channel."

The auditor asked for one route map.

Elise handed over the map she had kept separate from legal files.

She scanned it and pointed at one line where corridor repeated.

You're the same two rooms split into one path. she said.

Mara asked, "Does that prove someone forged one signature?"

Auditor said, "No. It proves chain lacked witness authority at one stage."

Elise asked, "Then what is missing?"

"Identity of consent owner."

The phrase hit like an old blade.

They moved to one utility lane where the old keycards were stacked.

Auditor touched one card and said, "No active."

Then she checked a card Bell had kept from Bell’s first access.

"This one has changed owner metadata."

Bell did not resist the look.

Elise asked, "Where now?"

Auditor: "Not traceable."

Priya and Bell stared at each other.

Later, she left with copies but no final statement.

"I need one week of silence from publication while I verify this chain."

Mara said, "No. They’ll call this delay."

Elise nodded anyway. "One week."

At 11:17, she called one final time to request a corridor walk-through.

The corridor had no voices and no red light.

Maybe that was the first honest room they had seen in months.
