The Last Line
Elise wrote one sentence and did not change it.
The room has no face, but it can no longer stay unnamed.
That was the opening of the final public summary.
Mara checked the legal wording with Helen.
Priya checked the annex attachments.
Bell checked the route card with new owner names blanked.
The final hearing notice arrived by hand, not email.
Inside: one page for response and one page for timeline.
Elise read the timeline request:
List all persons present, all rooms used, all unverified commands.
She began to fill the first line and felt a strange calm.
No one asked for a story.
The line of rooms was long but now complete: annex, corridor, clocktower, hearing rooms, archive, utility lane, wardrobe closet.
Each had one correction note.
Mara said, "When this gets published, nobody can say we hid the route."
Priya added one note:
Unverified commands remain under investigation.
At 11:17, the building finally went quiet.
No static in the stair, no tones on the panel.
Elise thought of the unknown voice and asked herself if this was an ending.
Bell answered, "No. The line is now public."
She added the last line to the summary:
A room can be anonymous, but an anonymous process can no longer govern a person.
She signed the page and sent it to all contacts.
