Room Thirty-Five
Room Thirty-Five was a long hallway of clocks.
Every clock showed a different version of 4:17. Claire walked between them, listening to the missing fourth hour in each one.
One clock showed Lena. One showed Mara. One showed Claire alone.
At the end stood a clock with no hands.
“That is yours,” Mara said.
Claire touched it.
The clock began to speak in her voice.
“I chose to give the hour away.”
The hallway vanished.
